It opened in1846 and was originally named Kirby, but had been renamed Asfordby by1863 . Opened by the
Midland Counties Railway , then run by theMidland Railway , it became part of theLondon, Midland and Scottish Railway during the Grouping of 1923. The station then passed on to theEastern Region of British Railways onnationalisation in 1948. It was then closed by theBritish Railways Board .
