Cheikhou Kayouté (born December 21, 1989) is a Senegal footballer who plays in Belgium for KV Kortrijk on loan from R.S.C. Anderlecht.

Anderlecht's new signing Cheikhou Kouyate claims that Arsenal have been interested in his services this summer.

The 19-year-old has left FC Brussels and won his trial against his former employers who did not pay him in the last three months, and been allowed to join Belgian rivals Anderlecht on a four-year deal.

Attacking midfielder Kouyate claims that Arsene Wenger’s scouts have been following his career, but he finally opted to join Anderlecht, who made him a concrete proposition.

“Arsenal were interested in my services,” Kouyate told Het Nieuwsblad. “Besides, they scouted me several times but they weren’t the only side interested.

“Nevertheless, Anderlecht have been able to offer me something concrete and I couldn’t refuse this from such a great club.

“It’s a move forward after FC Brussels. I will now do my best to try and secure a starter status.”

For the 2008-09 season, Kayouté will be loaned out to KV Kortrijk. [ [http://www.voetbalkrant.com/index.php?menu=Nieuws&pag=Lezen&nieuws=217331 Kayouté uitgeleend aan KV Kortrijk] ] ]
