Adventure Theatre

Adventure Theatre is a theatre program at Glen Echo Park in Glen Echo, Maryland. According to its website, the program, which was founded in 1951, "is the longest-running theatre program for children and families in the Washington metropolitan area and has been one of the main attractions at Glen Echo Park since 1971". History

*1952 – Adventure Theatre (AT) started its inaugural season at Leland Junior High School, in Bethesda, with a production of "Jack and the Beanstalk
*1971 – After supporters negotiated with the National Park Service, AT finds a permanent home in Glen Echo Park’s Old Arcade Building
*1972 – AT opened with a performance of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" in its new home
*1974 – The In-School Players, AT’s professional traveling troupe, is launched
*1978 – AT begins to offer drama classes

The Facility

In September 2007, Adventure Theatre introduced renovations including a new stage and audience seating, a state-of-the-art sound and light system, new rehearsal and education spaces, and party rooms.
