Cholathadam is a rural area in Kottayam district in the state of Kerala in India]]. It includes the village of Poonjar Thekkekara located 15 km from the town Erattupetta. It consists of a church called St. Mary's Church, two temples, one nursery school, and the Gramodayam Library. The ancestors who got the land from the King of Poonjar Palace, cultivated there and made a good culture and civilization. The first ancestors were from the Naduthottiyil (Vadakkeputhenpurackal), Vilackunnel and Vadayattu families.The main three branches of families hailed from Tribal Groups of Attappady(boundary of Palakkadu).The Nattumoopan (Tribal Leader) was Mr.Kuncherukkan Vilakkunnel.The main peculiarity of Cholathadam is that it is one of the origins of two Rivers viz,Meenachil & Manimalayar.The second prominent family is Vadayatu,the name of 'Mooppan' was 'Cholanaikkan'
