Wesmont (NJT station)

Wesmont (NJT station)

Wesmont Station is a proposed New Jersey Transit train station that is part of a large redevelopment effort of an old Curtiss-Wright aircraft assembly plant in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey.

Plans for the station were announced on June 14, 2008. [ [http://www.northjersey.com/news/transportation/19937539.html New train station coming to Wood-Ridge in 2011] ] Construction is scheduled to begin in 2009, with the station slated to open sometime in 2011. However, there have been concerns raised about the contamination of the land the station and entire redevelopment project sit on, and the concerns could possibly delay the construction and opening of the station.

Wesmont Station will be one of two rail stations in Wood-Ridge once it is completed; unlike the other station in the borough it will serve NJT's Bergen County Line trains and will be the second-to-last stop on the line before it reaches Secaucus Junction, between Garfield and Rutherford. (Wood-Ridge station serves the Pascack Valley Line.)
