Kirklevington Theatre Library

Kirklevington Theatre Library

Established in 1988, Kirklevington Theatre Library is an extensive collection of primarily 19th and 20th Century drama, dramatic theory and British theatre history. From its beginnings as the private collection of Sir William Ormerod (in whose house in Kirklevington the collection resides) the library has evolved into a valuable resource for students, writers and performers across the north east of England.

The Library relies on bequests and visitor contributions for the growth of its collection. During the past two decades, the library has benefited from the generosity of many theatre professionals, collectors and enthusiasts, who have donated thousands of rare and important performance materials.

The materials in the library are available to the public for reference and research by appointment only, which may be made from Tuesday to Friday 10 a.m.- 3 p.m., or by special arrangement.
