Lord Grizzly

Lord Grizzly

Lord Grizzly is a biographical novel by Frederick Manfred. It describes the survival ordeal of an actual mountain man, Hugh Glass, who was attacked by a bear and abandoned in the wilderness by his two companions. Glass, with a broken leg and open wounds, had to crawl most of the way to Fort Kiowa in order to reach safety.

"Lord Grizzly" was Manfred's most successful book, and a finalist for the National Book Award in 1954.
