Gunther Island Site 67 is an archaeological site in the village of Tolowot on Indian Island in Humboldt Bay near Eureka, California. Tolowot was one of the largest of the Wiyot villages. The site includes a large shell midden, as well as 11 house middens and various burial sites. [http://www.nr.nps.gov/Red%20Books/66000208.red.pdf NPS Redbook] ]

This village is the location of the 1860 Wiyot Massacre where earlysettlers killed over 100 Wyiot men, women, and children with knives and clubs. [http://www.wiyot.com/brochure.htm Wiyot Brochure] ]
