Karl Petrovich Jessen

Vice Admiral Karl Petrovich Jessen ( _ru. Карл Петрович Иессен; 1852-1918) was a Russian admiral of German Ethnicity. He was born in 1852 and entered the Naval Academy in 1869 graduating in 1875. Between 1891 and 1893 he was commander of the cruiser Admiral Kornilov. Between 1898 and 1902 he commanded the cruiser Gromoboi in the Far East. In 1904 he commanded the cruiser division of the Russian Pacific Fleet and led it in the Russo Japanese War. He commanded the Russian squadron the Battle of Ulsan. He was subsequently awarded the Order of St. George.

After the Russo Japanese war he was promoted to Vice Admiral and retired in 1908.

He died in Petrograd in 1918
