Jin Guozhang

Jin Guozhang (Traditional Chinese: 金國章, Simplified Chinese: 金国章), is a Chinese pharmacologist, psychopathologist and educator. He is considered as a pioneer of modernizing traditional Chinese medicine. [ [http://baike.baidu.com/view/238746.html 金国章_百度百科 ] ]

Life

Jin was born on June 6 1927 in Yongkang, Jinhua, Zhejiang Province. He studied at the Department of Pharmacy, School of Sciences, Zhejiang University. He later became a researcher at the prestigious Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIMM, CAS). He also served as a professor at the School of Pharmacy, Fudan University in Shanghai.

Jin is a senior academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was elected into the academy in 2001.

Work

Jin systematically studied the Chinese traditional medicines, their ingredients and compositions. He also identified several important effective ingradients and their pharmacological approaches for some traditional medicines. Jinalso holds several patents of Chinese medicines.
