Saunders Davies

The Rt Rev Saunders Davies was the Anglican Bishop of Bangor from 2000 until 2004 [ [http://www.churchinwales.org.uk/press/display_press_release.php?prid=4260 Announces resignation] ] . Born on 30 December 1937, he was educated at the University College of North Wales and Selwyn College, Cambridge [Crockford's Clerical Directory2008/2009 (100th edition), Church House Publishing (ISBN 9780715110300)] before embarking on a clerical career. Ordained in 1964 [Who's Who2008: London, A & C Black, 2008 ISBN 9780713672576] , he began his ministry with a curacy at Holyhead before being appointed a "Minor Canon" of Bangor Cathedral. From 1969 until 1975 he was Rector at Llanllyfni then Vicar of Gorseinon. Additionally Rural Dean of the area from 1983, he moved to become Archdeacon of Meirionnydd in 1993- from where he ascended to the episcopate.
