Necrotizing funisitis

Necrotizing funisitis

Necrotizing funisitis is a deep-seated inflammation of the umbilical cord. It is associated with congenital syphilis. It is now rare, and seen almost exclusively in the preterm infant, usually born at a gestational age of 32 weeks. The majority of infants are still born or die within a few weeks of birth.
