Hamilton Clarke

James Hamilton Smee Clarke (25 January 1840–9 July 1912) was an English conductor, composer and organist. He held posts as organist in Ireland, at Queen's College, Oxford and London and conducted at a number of London theatres, including the Opera Comique and the Lyceum, where he composed music for a number of Henry Irving's productions. He was a close associate of Arthur Sullivan, and arranged the overtures for The Sorcerer (in its 1884 revival), The Mikado (1886) and Ruddigore (1887).
