Mice Love Rice

Mice Love Rice

"Mice Love Rice" (simplified Chinese: 老鼠爱大米; traditional Chinese: 老鼠愛大米; pinyin: Lǎoshǔ Ài Dàmǐ) is a Chinese pop song. The song was written by a Chinese singer named Yang Chen Gang (杨臣刚), and his composition quickly gained popularity across East Asia via the Internet. It was sung by Wang Qi Wen (王啟文).

"Mice Love Rice" has become a hit in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore, and has been re-sung by many other Chinese artists including Twins, a Hong Kong-based two-girl band, and Xiang Xiang (香香), another mainland Chinese singer who issued an English translation afterwards, of dubious grammatical accuracy. In Hong Kong, the Emperor Entertainment Group has bought the license for redistributing in the local market. The lyrics of the Mandarin song were rewritten into a Cantonese version, except the famous motif of the song which remains in Mandarin. In Singapore, recording company Play Music won the rights to marketing the song in Singapore, and they released a single of the track as sung by Jocie Kok. There is also a sequel to the song "The Mouse No Longer Loves Rice" (老鼠不再爱大米) written by Chen Yi Peng.

"Mice Love Rice" has also inspired other songs throughout the world including Sarang Haeyo (사랑해요, "I Love You") by Korean singer Lee So-Eun (이소은), Nezumi ha Kome ga Suki (ねずみは米がすき, "Mice Love Rice") by Japanese artist Karen Miyama (美山加恋 Miyama Karen?), two Khmer versions by Cambodian singers Chhet Sovan Panha (ឈិត សុវណ្ណបញ្ញា) and Preap Sovath (ព្រាប សុវត្ថិ), "Cause I Love You" by the Australian boy band North (band)", and Chuột yêu gạo by Vietnamese singer Thanh Thảo.
