Pierre Gobert (
Fontainebleau , 1662 –Paris ,February 13 1744 ) was a French painter.He was the son of the sculptor
Jean II Gobert . Gobert entered theRoyal Academy of Painting and Sculpture onDecember 31 ,1701 as aportraitist . During the reign ofLouis XIV he became the preferred painter of the great ladies of the court as evidenced by the large collection of portaits that he executed during that time. Gobert's style included incorporating the traits ofmythology into his portraits.List of works
