Boys' Latin of Philadelphia Charter School is a Pennsylvania approved secondary charter school located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Boys' Latin was created by David P. Hardy (CEO) and Janine Yass (founder). Boys' Latin is formally known as South West Philadelphia Academy for Boys but was to Boys' Latin of Philadelphia.Source needed|date=June 2008

Years active

Boys' Latin opened it doors in the year of 2007 for 144 students who are scheduled for graduation in the year of 2011. Boys' Latin's plans were shot down in June 2006 when the school reform commission denied Boys' Latin a chance. However Hardy was not taking no for an answer when he started a petition that consisted of 900 signatures including people from Washington D.C to New York City.Source needed|date=June 2008

Facility

Boys' Latin of Philadelphia was housed temporarily for the school year of 2007-2008 in a module which housed 12 classes but had only 10 classrooms. They are now preparing to enter a new state of the art school building which is expected to house 600 students by the year 2010.St. John Barned-Smith. tudent Pledge of Responsibility

Education is my birthright. Education is the birthright of all children. Education is the pathway to freedom, the freedom to achieve my personal dreams.

Education is the path to justice, justice for every man, woman and child. Education is the path to power, the power to change the world.

Education is the path to joy. The joy of learning is a privilege. Education is my full-time job. It requires hard work.

I commit myself this day to focus on my studies, to be an active participant in my learning process, and to always seek guidance from my teachers whenever I need help.

I commit myself this day to respect myself and my fellow students; to honor my teachers and the entire school community.

I commit myself this day to scholarship and to train my mind and push myself to work hard.

I commit myself this day to my family and my community. I make these commitments freely and publicly.
