History
The stadium was planned in 1933, but was not finished until after
World War II . Lerkendal had initially only temporary stands and dressing rooms, but they were enhanced in 1949, and rebuilt in 1961-63.Floodlighting was built in 1968. To meet international standards the floodlighting was upgraded in 1996.
The old main stand was demolished in 1995-96, and a new grandstand was built. VIP-boxes were added, and Lerkendal Stadion was suddenly one of Norway's finest stadiums, close to Ullevaal Stadion in
Oslo .The latest upgrade was made in 2000-02, when three of the four stands were rebuilt. The price of the upgrade was NOK 250 million (Total upgrade costs thus reached 320 million). Further expansion is likely because of rising attendance at the club.
If Norway and Sweden win their bid to host Euro 2016, then Lerkendal stadion would be expanded past the 30,000 mark.
