Ahla is village and Union Council of
Mandi Bahauddin District in the Punjab province of Pakistan.Overview
Ahla is situated on the southern bank of Lower Jhelum canal, about 9 km from Mandi Bahauddin city. It is headquarters of union council Ahla. The union council comprises villages of Ahla, Khewa, Mohabbatpur, Datto Choohrh, Chak Deewarka, Beerh Pindi Jharana (Pindi Alehaani), Pindi Alehaani Utlee(upper) and Pindi Alehaani Haithlee(lower), Kot Jharaana, Bagga (also called Bagga Pump), Kotla Peeran and Kot Admaana.Village Ahla has a Government High School for Boys, Government Middle School for Girls and a few private schools of different levels.
Tribes/Communities/Baradaris: Main tribes are Kahuts/Kahoots/Koots, Gondals, Ranjhas, Sapras, Basraas, Dudds, Matmals, Mairs, Bhattis, Raans, many immigrants from East Punjab and beyond. Main occupations are agriculture and trading.Important personality of the area is Chaudary Ghulam Ali of Ahla.The land of Ahla stretches from the confines of Jalalpur Sharif in the North to the boundaries of Sohawas and Chimmon in the South. In other direction, it touches village Maajhi in the West and Bagga village in the East. Its land is almost 2625 acres.
