J. Vishnuvardhan

J. Vishnuvardhan (born July 27, 1987, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India) is a male tennis player from India.

Career

Vishnuvardhan is known to be one of India's brightest young tennis players, representing the next generation of Indian tennis, succeeding that of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi. He has represented India in the Davis Cup and helped the Indian team to crucial wins over Uzbekistan and Philippines en route to qualifying for the World Group.

Vishnuvardhan began to show glimpses of his talent right from a young age, performing exceedingly well on the junior circuit. The year 2003 proved to be his defining year on the junior circuit with Vishnuvardhan winning the Junior Nationals, and earning himself a place in the Indian Junior Davis Cup team. This success on the junior circuit translated itself into glory in Inter-University tournaments as well, with Vishnuvardhan capturing the gold medal in successive tournaments as the team captain. Vishnuvardhan has also had the distinction of representing the Indian Railways in various National and International tournaments, with his most significant achievement in this regard coming in the form of his victory in the World Railway Tennis Team Championships in 2007. The next goal for Vishnuvardhan will be to harness his obvious talent and achieve something noteworthy on the senior circuit. He has already established himself as a force to reckon with on the national scene, by winning the Grass Court Nationals and achieving a career-high national ranking of five. [V.V. Subrahmanyam.
