1921 Perth Carnival

1921 Perth Carnival

The 1921 Perth Carnival was the fourth Australian rules football interstate carnival and first to take place in Western Australia.

It had been seven years since the last championship due to the war and just like with every carnival to this point with the exception of Sydney, the home state finished unbeaten. Western Australia defeated the VFL in their game at Subiaco by five points, with the VFL's Collingwood forward Dick Lee missing a set shot 40 metres out in the final minute due to a gust of wind dislodging the ball as he attempted a place kick.

Teams

In a shortened carnival, only South Australia and a team representing the Victorian Football League joined Western Australia with the three playing each other once in a round robin format.

Players

Western Australia's carnival winning side, who were captained by William 'Nipper' Truscott, also featured Bonny Campbell, Wal Gunnyon and future Sandover Medalists in Harold Boyd, Tom Outridge and William 'Digger' Thomas.
