Emad El-Din Mohamed Abdel Moneim Fayed (Arabic: عماد الدين محمد عبد المنعم الفايد) (April 15, 1955–August 31, 1997), better known as Dodi Al-Fayed, was the son of the Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed ( _ar. محمد الفايد), owner of British department store Harrods, Fulham Football Club and the Hôtel Ritz Paris. His mother was Samira Kashoggi, sister of the notorious weapons dealer, Adnan Khashoggi.

Born in Alexandria, Egypt, Fayed was a student at Collège Saint Marc before attending the Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland. His occupation was often given as film producer; he helped make "Breaking Glass" (1980) and "Chariots of Fire" (1981), as well as the movie "F/X" and its sequel. He also served as the Executive Creative Consultant for the .

Dodi was an executive producer for the 1991 movie "Hook" starring Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman. In addition he was the executive producer of the 1995 film adaptation of "The Scarlet Letter".

Diana, Princess of Wales

In 1997, he was linked romantically with Diana, Princess of Wales. On august 31 of that year, the couple died in a car crash in a Paris underpass. Neither he nor Diana was wearing a seatbelt, and Henri Paul, the driver of their limousine, was under the influence of alcohol. He was originally interred in Brookwood Cemetery near Woking, Surrey but was moved to the Fayed Estate in Oxted, Surrey.

Memorials

His father has erected two memorials to Dodi and Diana at Harrods. The first, unveiled on April 12, 1998, consists of photos of the two behind a pyramid-shaped display that holds a wine glass still smudged with lipstick from Diana's last dinner as well as a ring Dodi purchased the day before they died.
