Waldo Machado

"Waldo Machado" (born 9 September 1934 in Niterói, Brazil , known by the soccer nickname of " 'Waldo"', was a former Brazilian football player. He played as a center-forward.

Football career

Waldo was one of the first Brazilian footballer in succeeding in Valencia CF. It emphasized for its capacity scorer, achieving the trophy pichichi in the season 1966&ndash67. Great part of its goals managed to owed them to its precision and power in the launch of the blows Franks. Waldo was an athlete with muscles of decathlete. Had velocity of short distance to surpass to the scoreboard and to volley in career, besides pitch with technique.

Its acquisition by the club of Mestalla was produced after the participation of the of Rio de Janeiro (team in which military Waldo) in the posthumous homage to the also Brazilian one and player of the Valencia CF Walter Of Queiros dead in accident of traffic. After emphasizing in said encounter noting two goals was put on file by the then president of the Valencia CF with the intention, in part, of filling the hole left by the sudden death of its countryman.

Waldo is the major scorer of the history of the of Rio de Janeiro one, with 314 goals in 403 parties. In the brazilian Selection he noted two goals, in the from rio de janeiro Selection six and in that of Madureira twenty-two.

The ten seasons that played in the first staff of the Valencia CF were very successful, achieving two Cups Cup and a Cup of the King. On the whole disputed the following parties:

Cup of Fairs : 50 parties and 30 goals

Besides it is at present the historic high-scoring second of the Valencia CF in league after World surpassing players as Kempes or Fernando.
