- Parkers Marsh Natural Area Preserve
Parkers Marsh Natural Area Preserve is a Natural Area Preserve located in
Accomack County, Virginia . The preserve incorporatesbeach habitat along theChesapeake Bay as well as lowmarsh , highmarsh ,shrub s, andforest vegetation; thewetland s provide a home for many different species of animals and plants. About 75% of the site is saltmarsh.Marsh elder andblack cherry may be found on olddune ridges on the site, as mayloblolly pine . Some lower dunes support variousgrassland species.Peregrine falcon s have nested in the area since 1998, and the raresharp-tailed sparrow has been observed nesting at the site. In addition, the beach provides a home for thenortheastern beach tiger beetle .The preserve has been designated an
Audobon Important Bird Area .Reference
