Platform-based design

Platform-based design is defined in the "Taxonomies for the Development and Verification of Digital Systems" book [Brian Bailey, Grant Martin and Thomas Anderson, "Taxonomies for the Development and Verification of Digital Systems". Springer, 2005.] as: "an integration oriented design approach emphasising systematic reuse, for developing complex products based upon platforms and compatible hardware and sofware virtual component, intended to reduce development risks, costs and time to market".
