James River National Wildlife Refuge

The James River National Wildlife Refuge is a National Wildlife Refuge located along the James River in northeastern Prince George County, Virginia. One of four refuges that comprise the Eastern Virginia Rivers National Wildlife Refuge Complex, it was founded in 1991 for the protection of nesting and roosting habitat for the bald eagle; its management is overseen by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. The refuge's convert|4200|acre|km2 of forest and wetland are bordered by Powells Creek to the west, and by Flowerdew Hundred Plantation to the east.
