Seven Servants

"Seven Servants" is a 1996 German drama-comedy film made by Daryush Shokof. It is about a man (played by Anthony Quinn) who wants to unite the races until his last breath. According to Shokof, the story was based on a dream he had in Cologne, Germany in 1995.

Plot

An old man named Archie (Anthony Quinn) hires seven servants of different races "and a mix of men and women" to get connected to him by plugging up his body openings until his last breath. The servants have to stay connected to the old man's body for the next ten days. They eat, sleep, and in some hilarious scenes, even go to the bathroom and fight thieves while still connected to one another. They overcome many difficulties by staying united, until finally, an opera singer arrives to plug up his final facial opening. Archie dies in peace, pleasure and harmony because he has the people around him "united" at last, even if it is only a "bodily" unification and through him as the catalyst.

Reaction

The film broke audience records at the Locarno film festival (according to festival director Marco Muller).Fact|date=August 2008 The critics were mostly against it and the film did not get any awards. It did not get any distribution deals.
