Benjamin Szumskyj

Benjamin J. Szumskyj is an Australian horror editor, occasional author, critic and devout Christian. [http://www.australianhorror.com/member_pages.php?page=32 Australian Horror Writers Association :: Member Pages ] ]

He has edited several titles including: "Black Prometheus: A Critical Study of Karl Edward Wagner" (Gothic Press, 2007), "Two-Gun Bob: A Centennial Study of Robert E. Howard" (Hippocampus Press, 2006), "Fritz Leiber: Critical Essays" (McFarland, 2007), "Fritz Leiber and H.P. Lovecraft: Writers of the Dark" (with S.T. Joshi) (Wildside Press, 2003), "Dissecting Hannibal Lecter: Essays on the Novels of Thomas Harris" (McFarland,2008), "Crossroads: A Christian Anthology" (www.lulu.com, 2007) and "American Exorcist: Critical Essays on William Peter Blatty" (McFarland, 2008). He has also written dozens of essays and articles on literary criticism for several magazines and journals such as "Notes in Contemporary Literature, Wormwood: Writings about Fantasy, Supernatural and Decadent Literature" and "Star*Line: Journal of the Science Fiction Poetry Association".

He was general editor of the journal "Studies in Fantasy Literature" and is currently the editor-in-chief of the journal "Studies in Australian Weird Fiction" (with assistant editors Leigh Blackmore, James Doig, and Phillip A. Ellis). He is also the official editor and blog owner of the SSWFT (Sword and Sorcery & Weird Fiction Terminus) amateur press association, which has members in Australia, USA and the UK [http://sswftapa.blogspot.com/ Sword and Sorcery as well as Weird Fiction Terminus] ] .

A qualified teacher (Bachelor of Arts in Education / Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, minor in English), he currently teaches at a private high school. He also has a diploma as a librarian technician/assistant and a graduate diploma in Christian Studies..
